LAS PEÑAS

It’s not just that the peñas (social clubs) are part of the festivities; the San Fermín festival simply wouldn’t exist without them. Pamplona boasts 17 peñas: 7 de Julio San Fermín, Los del Bronce, El Bullicio Pamplonés, Donibane, Aldapa, Alegría de Iruña, Anaitasuna, Armonía Txantreana, Irrintxi, La Jarana, Muthiko Alaiak, Oberena, Rotxapea, Sanduzelai, El Charco, La Única, and Mutilzarra. During the bullfights, their stands erupt in frenzy, where they dance and drink without restraint, dress up in costumes, and revel in the festivities. Once the bullfight is over, they leap into the ring with their banners, parading through the streets of Pamplona and spreading their joy and festive spirit throughout the city.
